Unwrappable Gifts I’m Giving

In the busyness of this Christmas week, I want to take the time to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Today, I’m baking for 2 Christmas dinners – one on Wednesday and one Christmas Day.  Our kids, grandkids and my mother-in-law and father-law will be here Wednesday for an Italian Dinner.  We got our fill of turkey and dressing Thanksgiving Day so we’re changing it up for Christmas.  Christmas Day my side of the family will be at our house and we’ll have a Mexican food feast!  I’m in love with Mexican food.

All but two of our gifts are wrapped and under the tree.  I say two of our gifts aren’t wrapped but actually there’s more.  Some gifts can’t be wrapped.  And those are the gifts I want them to have most.

The unwrappable gifts I want them to have are

Peace – I want them to experience a day – a lifetime – of peace where their cares and worries are left behind and they rest in the presence of family and the Holy Spirit who is always present.

Love – I want them to know they are loved, cherished and adored and they light up our world.

Comfort – I want them to know and appreciate the comfort of the Holy Spirit.  I want them to know the physical comforts of a warm home, warm food and warm friendships.  But I don’t want them to get comfortable in their mission and purpose in life.  Comfort is a funny thing.  It can do you well or do you harm.  I pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit that nurtures and doesn’t spoil.

Joy – I want them to know the joy of family, the joy of seeing others blessed and the joy of knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Oh, how I want them to have joy.

Peace, love, comfort and joy are things that cannot be wrapped but they’re among the greatest gifts we can pray for our loved ones.  We can’t make everything right in everyone’s world.  But we can do something to foster peace, love, comfort and joy while they’re in ours.

I won’t be with you for Christmas.  But will you accept my unwrapple gift of a prayer for peace, love, comfort and joy for you?

I hope and pray you know and feel the love of Jesus Christ and share His love with those around you this Christmas season.

Merry Christmas!
