A lack of open doors can be frustrating. Have you looked for open doors but they’re nowhere to be found? Maybe you’re waiting on a job. Maybe you’re waiting on a spouse (Like to marry one). Or maybe you’re waiting on doors for ministry to open. I have felt, at times, that all the doors were stuck or glued shut. No doors were swinging wide open. (They weren’t even cracked open)
A couple of weeks ago Troy and I were going to eat at a steak restaurant in Oklahoma City. Being the gentleman he is, Troy opens the doors for me. But since he stopped on the sidewalk briefly, I got to the door before he did and thought I’d open the door for myself. I wrapped my fingers around the massive iron handle and pulled. I barely even managed to budge the enormous the door before Troy reached around me, took hold of the door handle and easily pulled the door open.
Now, I’m no Mr. Olympia (women’s division, of course) but I’m no feeble, weakling either. And that door was HEAVY! But when Troy came along and I allowed him to open the door for me, we walked in easily.
Don’t we often treat life like that? We try to open doors ourselves and get frustrated because we’re not going anywhere. Nothing seems to work. The company you want to work for isn’t hiring. No opportunities to teach or preach are coming your way. The class you want to take is full. Yet we keep trying to push open a door that is clearly shut.
I’m not saying don’t be persistent. I’m not saying give up. What I am saying is…
Don’t get frustrated. Not all doors you want to open should be opened. Not all doors you want opened should be opened now.
I found that when we wait on God, He’ll open the right door for us and we’ll walk through easily. We struggle way more than we need to. We actually shouldn’t struggle at all. Not to open doors. Doors aren’t ours to open. They’re God’s.
Revelation 3:8 says, “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.”
God places the doors before us that He wants to be opened. God’s doors can be daunting and require much courage but God will always come alongside us and open the door when it’s time. And what I love about these doors… they are doors no man can shut. When God sets you up… When God is ready to move you through the next door… No man can stand in your way.
Be patient, my friend, and never quit preparing. When the time is right you’ll find yourself standing in front of the right door and it will open up to you opportunities that have been placed before you by God Himself. Those doors are always the best doors. They’re the right doors. And they’re the doors that will move you to the next level.
